Privacy Policy

Yoribang is a private recipe box. We collect only what we need to run it, we don't sell your information, and we don't show advertising today. This page explains the details.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, your email address, an optional nickname, and your password. The password is stored only as a scrambled hash, so no one at Yoribang can read it.
- Your content: the recipes, notes, photos, favorites, and saved sites you add, including recipes you save from Discover or import from web pages.
- Sign-in details: a sign-in session (your device and browser, and the network address it came from), so we can keep you signed in and limit abuse.
- Invitations: if you invite someone, we keep their email address and the date, only to limit invitations and avoid sending repeats.
- Sharing: if you share a recipe, we keep which recipe you shared, with whom (or with everyone), and when. If a member reports a shared recipe, we keep the report, the reason they gave, and who made it, so an administrator can review it.
- Server logs: our web server records requests (such as address, time, and page) for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- To run your account, and show your recipes only to you.
- To send emails you need: confirming your address, resetting your password, and, if you ask us to, an invitation to a friend or a note that you shared a recipe with them.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
Your recipes, notes, and photos are private. They aren't shown to other members or to the public, unless you choose to share a recipe.
When you share a recipe with a member, or with everyone, those people (signed-in members only) can see the recipe, its photo, and your nickname (or your name if you have no nickname), and can save their own copy. They can't see your personal notes or cooking notes. Recipes shared with everyone aren't visible to people who aren't signed in, and search engines can't see them. You can stop sharing at any time from the recipe's Share page. A copy someone already saved stays theirs. Administrators can see what members share (the recipe, its photo, and who it is shared with, never private notes) so they can keep the site safe, and may hide a recipe from sharing.
Cookies and storage
We use one sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. It is needed for the site to work. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. If you install Yoribang on your phone, public pages (like Discover and Conversions) may be stored on your device so they open faster and work offline. Your private recipes are never stored that way, and that storage is cleared when you sign in or out.
Who else handles your information
- Email delivery: we send email through SMTP2GO. They process your address and the message to deliver it.
- Hosting: Yoribang runs on a cloud server we manage. Backups are kept on the same server for a short time.
- Human check: when you create an account or ask for a password reset, we use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person. Your browser loads a script from Cloudflare, which sees your network address and browser details to decide. It doesn't show ads or track you across sites.
- Fonts: pages load a font from Google Fonts, which may see your browser's address and request details.
- Web pages you import: when you import a recipe from a link, our server fetches that page on your behalf.
We don't sell your information or give it to advertisers. We may share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and recipes until you delete them. When you delete your account, your recipes, notes, photos, saved sites, and sign-in sessions are removed straight away. Server backups are removed within 14 days.
Your choices
- Change your password, or delete your account, on the Account page.
- If someone invited you and you don't want Yoribang, ignore the email. We send it once and won't write again unless you sign up.
Children
Yoribang isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, such as adding advertising, we'll update the date above and tell members before it takes effect.
