A savory-sweet Cuban ground beef hash with olives, raisins, and tomato.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1.5 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup green olives, sliced
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

Steps

  1. Step 1. Cook the onion and pepper in the oil for 6 minutes. Add the garlic for 1 minute.

  2. Step 2. Add the beef and brown for 8 minutes, breaking it up, until no longer pink.

  3. Step 3. Add the tomato sauce, olives, raisins, capers, cumin, oregano, bay leaf, and salt. Simmer 15 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the sauce is thick.

  4. Step 4. Stir in the vinegar. Serve with rice and black beans.
