Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb beef sirloin, sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons calamansi or lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons oil, divided
  • 2 large onions, sliced in rings

Steps

  1. Step 1. Marinate the beef in the soy sauce, calamansi, and pepper for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Step 2. Cook the onions in 1 tablespoon of oil for 3 minutes until just soft. Remove and keep warm.

  3. Step 3. Sear the beef in the remaining oil in batches, 2 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through with no pink.

  4. Step 4. Add the garlic, marinade, and water to the pan and simmer 3 minutes. Return the beef and onions and toss. Serve with rice.
