Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, cut into 1/2-inch slabs
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon gochugaru
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds

Steps

  1. Step 1. Pat the tofu dry. Fry in the oil over medium heat for about 3 minutes per side, until golden. Move to a wide pan in one layer.

  2. Step 2. Mix the soy sauce, gochugaru, sugar, garlic, water, and half the green onion.

  3. Step 3. Pour the sauce over the tofu. Simmer over medium-low heat for 8 minutes, spooning the sauce over the top, until it reduces by half.

  4. Step 4. Finish with the sesame oil, remaining green onion, and sesame seeds.
