Perfect Grilled Cheese
A buttery, crisp sandwich with melted cheddar, made in a pan over medium-low heat.

Ingredients
- 4 slices sandwich bread
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 4 slices sharp cheddar
- 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack
- 1 teaspoon mayonnaise, optional
Steps
Step 1. Spread the butter on one side of each slice of bread.
Step 2. Layer the cheddar and Jack on the unbuttered sides and close the sandwiches, butter side out.
Step 3. Cook in a skillet over medium-low heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing lightly, until golden and the cheese is melted.
Step 4. Slice and serve right away.
