Tomato Basil Grilled Cheese

Tomato Basil Grilled Cheese

Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough or country bread
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 6 slices mozzarella or provolone
  • 1 ripe tomato, sliced thin
  • 6 fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps

  1. Step 1. Butter one side of each slice of bread.

  2. Step 2. Layer the cheese, tomato slices, basil, salt, and pepper on the unbuttered sides of 2 slices and close the sandwiches, butter side out.

  3. Step 3. Cook in a skillet over medium-low heat for 4 minutes per side, until golden and the cheese is melted.

  4. Step 4. Slice and serve right away.
