Sloppy Joes

Saucy, sweet-and-tangy ground beef on soft buns. A fast family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 soft hamburger buns

Steps

  1. Step 1. Brown the beef with the onion and pepper in a large skillet for 8 to 10 minutes, until no longer pink and cooked through (160°F). Drain the fat.

  2. Step 2. Add the garlic, ketchup, sugar, Worcestershire, mustard, vinegar, chili powder, and salt.

  3. Step 3. Simmer for 10 to 12 minutes until thick.

  4. Step 4. Spoon onto toasted buns.
