Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup, for the glaze
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar

Steps

  1. Step 1. Heat the oven to 350°F. Soak the breadcrumbs in the milk for 5 minutes.

  2. Step 2. Mix with the beef, eggs, onion, garlic, 1/4 cup of ketchup, Worcestershire, salt, and pepper until just combined.

  3. Step 3. Shape into a loaf on a lined pan. Stir the glaze ingredients and spread half over the top.

  4. Step 4. Bake for 55 minutes. Spread on the remaining glaze and bake 10 to 15 minutes more, until the center reaches 160°F and the beef is cooked through with no pink.

  5. Step 5. Rest 10 minutes before slicing.

Original Yoribang write-ups of American comfort food: salads for sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, gravies, and the creamy casseroles that fill church suppers and weeknight tables. Where a casserole is traditionally made with canned condensed soup, these use a quick homemade sauce, or you can swap in a can.
