Dijon Vinaigrette

The everyday French salad dressing, made in a jar in two minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 small shallot, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey, optional

Steps

  1. Step 1. Whisk the mustard, vinegar, shallot, salt, and pepper in a bowl or shake in a jar.

  2. Step 2. Pour in the oil in a slow stream, whisking until it thickens and holds together.

  3. Step 3. Taste and add the honey if too sharp.

  4. Step 4. Keeps 1 week in the fridge. Shake before using.
