Affogato

A scoop of vanilla ice cream drowned in a shot of hot espresso. Dessert in two minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 scoops good vanilla ice cream
  • 2 shots hot espresso, about 1/2 cup
  • 2 tablespoons amaretto or coffee liqueur, optional
  • 2 tablespoons chopped toasted hazelnuts
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate shavings

Steps

  1. Step 1. Chill two small glasses or bowls in the freezer for 10 minutes.

  2. Step 2. Put 2 scoops of ice cream in each glass.

  3. Step 3. Pour a shot of hot espresso over each, and the liqueur if using.

  4. Step 4. Top with hazelnuts and chocolate. Eat right away.
