Halo-Halo

A shaved ice dessert layered with sweet beans, fruit, jelly, ice cream, and milk. The name means mix-mix.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sweet beans
  • 1/2 cup nata de coco and kaong, drained
  • 1/2 cup cooked sweet bananas or ripe jackfruit
  • 1/4 cup ube halaya
  • 4 cups shaved ice
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 scoops ube ice cream
  • 2 slices leche flan
  • 2 tablespoons pinipig or crushed cereal

Steps

  1. Step 1. Divide the sweet beans, nata de coco, kaong, and banana between two tall glasses.

  2. Step 2. Pile the shaved ice on top.

  3. Step 3. Pour over the evaporated milk and add the ube halaya.

  4. Step 4. Top with ice cream, a slice of leche flan, and the crispy rice. Mix everything before eating.
