Sweet and garlicky grilled pork skewers, a classic Thai street breakfast with sticky rice.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb pork shoulder, sliced thin in strips
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro stems
  • 3 tablespoons coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoons palm sugar or brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 12 bamboo skewers, soaked 30 minutes

Steps

  1. Step 1. Mix the garlic, cilantro stems, coconut milk, sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and pepper. Toss with the pork and marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight.

  2. Step 2. Thread the pork onto the skewers.

  3. Step 3. Grill over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through (145°F) with no pink inside.

  4. Step 4. Serve with sticky rice and a sweet chili sauce.
