Bolinhos de Chuva

Little fried dough balls rolled in cinnamon sugar. Named 'rain dumplings' for rainy-day cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar, for rolling
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps

  1. Step 1. Whisk the flour, milk, egg, 2 tablespoons of sugar, baking powder, and salt into a thick batter.

  2. Step 2. Heat the oil to 350°F.

  3. Step 3. Drop tablespoons of batter into the oil and fry in batches for 3 to 4 minutes, turning, until golden and cooked through.

  4. Step 4. Drain on paper towels and roll in the cinnamon sugar. Serve warm.
