Yaki Udon

Thick chewy udon noodles stir-fried with pork and vegetables in a savory-sweet sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 portions fresh or frozen udon noodles
  • 1/4 lb thinly sliced pork, cut in pieces
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 carrot, sliced thin
  • 2 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 3 green onions, cut in 1-inch pieces
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Bonito flakes, to top

Steps

  1. Step 1. Loosen the udon in hot water for 1 minute and drain.

  2. Step 2. Cook the pork in the oil for 3 minutes until no longer pink and cooked through.

  3. Step 3. Add the carrot and cabbage and stir-fry 3 minutes.

  4. Step 4. Add the noodles, soy sauce, mirin, oyster sauce, and sugar. Toss for 3 minutes. Add the green onions and top with bonito flakes.
